Having not given much thought to what I
would do upon retirement, when it arrived,
rather abruptly, I thought of all the things I had
wanted to try and never had time.  Being
driven by a natural ego I needed to succeed
or at least do something that would be
acceptable to the people around me and not
embarrass family.  Having always had a
healthy interest in art work from my years in
architectural school and never really being
able to produce an acceptable rending of my
own work, I decided to explore the reasons
why?

  • Kansas State University School of Architecture

  • U.S. Navy Civil Eng. Corps

  • Frank L. Hope and Assoc, Architects

  • Kansas State University Grad. Assistant

  • Floyd Wolfenbarger Architects

  • Exline, Inc.
       Salina, KS - 1968-94

  • Started Over - 1995 to Present

Over the past ten years I have tried my "luck" at almost every art media.  The past two
years I have concentrated on the many uses of paper pulp.  This started with making
sheets of paper.  Next I explored casting things in the sheets as well as some three
dimensional casting with thick pulp.  Most recently I have developed a method of
painting with colored paper pulp on a screen.  This requires working in reverse.  The
pulp that hits the screen first is what is on top when the work is turned over for final
viewing.  The technique requires a lot of patience and I have had much "trial and
error".  The results are always a surprise and stimulate additional exploration.  I don't
know where this is leading but I have the willingness to continue, there will always be
    another door to open.
